FOXBORO, Mass. (AP) -- Ansil Elcock scored the deciding goal of a shootout Saturday night as the Columbus Crew defeated the New England Revolution 1-0.
Jeff Cunningham, Stern John and Robert Warzycha also converted
in the 4-1 shootout for the Crew, while Joe-Max Moore found the net
for New England.
Neither team scored in regulation. Columbus is 17-11 while New
England (10-19) has won just twice since the All-Star break. The
Revolution are trying for the fourth and final playoff spot in the
Eastern Conference and are fifth, one point behind Miami, which
plays San Jose on Sunday.
Before the shoot, New England coach Walter Zenga had to be restrained by Revolution officials after getting into an argument with referee Ted Covaciu.
