Ruutu to enter fourth season with Vancouver

ESPN.com news services

Vancouver Canucks: The team re-signed free-agent forward Jarkko Ruutu on Thursday.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Ruutu had two goals, two assists and 66 penalty minutes in 36 games with the Canucks last season. The Finnish agitator was a healthy scratch for 24 of Vancouver's first 30 games, but earned a regular roster spot late in the season.

He then played 13 of the Canucks' 14 playoff games, recording two assists and 14 penalty minutes.

Ruutu, Vancouver's third choice -- 68th overall -- in the 1998 draft, has seven goals, 13 assists and 178 penalty minutes in 114 NHL games.

He also played for Finland in the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics.
