MONTREAL (AP) _ Patrick Lalime made 17 saves as the Ottawa Senators shut out the Montreal Canadiens 3-0 in an exhibition game Saturday night.

Magnus Arvedson, David Oliver and Shawn MacEachern scored as Ottawa outshot the Canadiens 29-17.

Arvedson left the penalty box, collected a puck that got past Montreal's Stephane Robidas and beat Jeff Hackett on a breakaway 8:23 into the game.

Oliver scored on John Emmons' rebound at 3:07 of the second period, and MacEachern added a power-play goal at 14:59 of the second.

Ottawa defenseman Sami Salo left in the first period with a bruised right ankle.

Before the game, Montreal assigned right wing Arron Asham to the Quebec Citadelles of the AHL, and announced that defenseman Sheldon Souray will miss two weeks with an abdominal strain.
