KANATA, Ontario (AP) -- Shawn McEachern's game-tying goal has been one of the few bright spots for Ottawa this season.

McEachern's power play goal with 18 seconds left gave the Senators a 3-3 tie with Philadelphia on Sunday.

"It was a better effort than our last game (a 5-0 loss to Pittsburgh on Nov. 26)," said Senators defenseman Wade Redden. "We were more intense, more aware of the little things like chipping it in. It was a great goal by Mac at the end."

With Luke Richardson off for hooking, McEachern took Marian Hossa's centering pass during a goal-mouth scramble and beat John Vanbiesbrouck for his seventh of the season.

"We won the faceoff and Chris Phillips really crashed the puck," said McEachern, who's taken over the Senators' captaincy in the absence of the injured Daniel Alfredsson.

"We had three big guy battling for it in Bonk, Hossa and Phillips."

Bonk had won the faceoff deep in the Philadelphia zone against Eric Lindros, who was held pointless Sunday after recording 45 points in 26 previous games against the Senators.

"I lost it," said Lindros. "It went back to the point and I didn't get back in time down deep. You're going to win some, you're going to lose some."

Hossa and Joe Juneau also scored for the Senators, who have only one win in their last six games. Juneau and McEachern each had an assist.

"We showed a lot of character to come back against probably the hottest team in the league right now," said goalie Ron Tugnutt. Tugnutt gave up all three Flyers' goals on 11 shots before leaving with an injured left knee midway through the second. He was replaced by Patrick Lalime.

Mark Recchi had a goal and an assist for the Flyers, who are 9-2-3 in their last 14 games. Daymond Langkow and Richardson also scored for Philadelphia.

Ottawa outshot the Flyers 30-25, including 12-3 in the third.

Vanbiesbrouck made 27 saves.

Recchi opened the scoring at 8:13 of the first with his 10th of the season, stuffing his own rebound under Tugnutt's pads from the side of the crease. Richardson gave the Flyers a 2-0 lead 1:49 later when his wrist shot from the point beat a screened Tugnutt, before Juneau put McEachern's pass from the slot between Vanbiesbrouck's pads.

With the teams playing 4-on-4, Recchi set up Langkow on a 2-on-1 only 31 seconds into the second.

Hossa then got his 12th of the season, banging in a rebound from a scramble in front of Vanbiesbrouck at 6:37.

In overtime, Philadelphia fired six shots at Lalime, while Vanbiesbrouck faced only two.
