DALLAS (Ticker) -- Ken Wregget made 30 saves as the Detroit Red Wings earned a 3-0 preseason victory over the Stanley Cup champion Dallas Stars.

Larry Murphy, Martin Lapointe and Brendan Shanahan scored for Detroit, which did not record its first shot until 10:27 of the first period.

Wregget made 26 saves over the final two periods and helped deny the Stars on all 11 of their power plays. He stopped Joe Nieuwendyk from the low slot on a 5-on-3 with 91 seconds left in the second session.

The teams combined for 77 minutes in penalties and 16 empty power plays in as many chances.

Murphy fluttered his first goal of the preaseason past Ed Belfour from the right faceoff circle with 5:47 left in the first period. Lapointe tallied off a scramble in front in the third before Shanahan scored into an empty net.

Belfour finished with 17 saves.
