BOX SCORE
EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) -- Ray Bourque scored his first two goals as a member of the Avalanche to lead Colorado to a 4-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Friday night.
| | Edmonton's Ryan Smyth discovered that the only way to stop Ray Bourque was to get him off his skates. | Bourque, who joined the Avalanche on Monday after being traded from the Boston Bruins with left-winger Dave Andreychuk, got both his 11th and 12th goals of the season on power plays.
Joe Sakic and Adam Deadmarsh also scored for the Avalanche, who lead Edmonton by two points in the Northwest Division.
Georges Laraque and Alex Selivanov scored for the Oilers, who finished their three-game homestand without a win (0-3-0).
The Avalanche, who have won four in a row, opened the scoring at 3:13 of the first period as Bourque's shot from the point beat Tommy Salo.
Edmonton tied it 1-1 midway through the first when Selivanov put away his 22nd of the season on the power play.
Laraque put the Oilers ahead 2-1 when he spun around in front of the net and beat Patrick Roy.
Bourque tied it early in the second with Oilers defensemen Tom Poti and Roman Hamrlik in the penalty box with high-sticking double minors, handed out just four seconds apart.
Deadmarsh put the Avs ahead to stay at 14:15 of the second. Sakic rounded out the scoring with his 20th goal when he beat Salo at 15:43 of the third.
Roy made 28 saves for the victory and is now just 11 wins short of tying the all-time wins record for a goalie, held by Terry Sawchuk with 447.
Defenseman Igor Ulanov played his first game as an Oiler after being traded from the Montreal Canadiens, along with Alain Nassreddine, in exchange for defensemen Christian Laflamme and Matthieu Descoteaux.
