You've got questions; Ashley's got answers.

ESPN.com

Q: What is the hardest hit you've ever received, and do you have any apprehensions about going across the middle in the NFL?
Jason Letterman
Fredericktown, Mo.

AL: Oh ... I can remember one hit in particular. It came against Louisiana Tech two years ago, and their top cornerback, Bobby Gray. I was running an out route, and the ball was a little high and out of my reach. When I came back to reach for it, Bobby hit me from behind, kind of on the blind side, and just leveled me. I wouldn't say it hurt. It was just a little jarring.

As for the other question, it doesn't worry me. If you run your route right and do the right reads on your route, you shouldn't have a problem in most offenses. And besides, going across the midddle is part of the game. It's football. And that's why you have pads on.

Q: If you could pick one quarterback to throw footballs to you next year, who would it be?
Mark Newberry
Beverly Hills, Calif.

AL: Nick Rolovich, my quarterback last year at Hawaii, is my first choice. He's a guy who always put the ball on the money. You never have to make a hard catch wtih Nick. The ball would just fall into my hands and I could go with it.

In the NFL, there are a ton of guys. I want to say all of them. But if I had to pick just one, I'd probably go with Brett Favre. His balls are so accurate and placed so well, they make the receiver's job easier. I know he throws hard, and I've heard that it hurts to catch balls from him, but I'd rather get hit hard by the ball than get hit hard by a linebacker after a bad pass.

Q: Do you get a lot of strange looks with a name like Ashley? How did you get your name?
Ashley Thweatt
Eielson AFB, Ark.

AL: I wouldn't say a lot of strange looks. It all depends. As I've gotten older and hung out with a more mature crowd, they really don't think anything of it. But with kids, growing up, you know how mean kids can be. I took a lot of flack growing up. There were times when I wanted to change my name or use my middle name. But it doesn't bother me now.

My mom named me. I guess she was watching "Gone With the Wind" when she was ready to have me in the hsopital. She watched it and liked the dude's name, so when I was born, she named me Ashley.

Q: Which video games are your favorites, and which are you the best at?
Brian Newcomer
West Palm Beach, Fla.

AL: I love all sports games. Love them. I also like some of the violent games, like Grand Theft Auto and State of Emergency. But I'm the best at Madden 2002. I was by far the best guy on my team at Hawaii. Nobody could even come close. We had this little board for awhile, where we kept track, and my teammates might tell you I was second best, but that's only because any of the games we'd play in hotels or other houses didn't count on the big board. And I won almost all of those. So technically, I should have been first.
