Q: After seeing a few of the young guns this year struggle in an essential part of the game, the touchdown dance, have you been or will you be practicing for your first trip into the end zone as an NFL player? AL: Yeah, kind of. It's something I always wanted to do but couldn't in college. You know how Donovan McNabb or Tony Gonzalez dunk the ball? I have one like that, but it's a variation. They just go up and dunk it. I want to make it like a dunk contest. Go up there and to a 360 and throw it down with two hands.
Q: What sort of rituals or mental preparations do you go through before a game? Alex Pham Philadelphia AL: I just like to sit back, play some music and get myself pumped up inside. Whether it's Jay-Z or NAS, I just love listening to the music. During home games, me and Shannon Harris used to go on the field and watch the other team run into our stadium. We'd watch them give us the mad dog look or whatever to get us pumped up. After that, we'd go get dressed and ready to play.
As for any superstitions, I only have one. I always have to wear the same gloves that I wore on that Friday's walk-through. They have to be brand new gloves that I broke in on Friday, nothing else. That's the only superstition I really have.
Q: Having played college football in a predominantly warm environment, how would you feel about playing for a cold-weather team like Green Bay or Buffalo? Would it be a difficult adjustment for you? John Sevigny Biddeford, Maine AL: I can totally adjust to cold weather. I actually kind of like it. I don't like it when it's too hot. I'd rather die frozen to death than be burned. I've never really had to live in sub-zero weather before, but it's something I know I can adjust to. Snow seems like a blast. I've only seen it once and that was at the airport in Chicago. I had a layover there and went outside to check things out firsthand.
Q: Is there a certain NFL team you'd like to play for? Royce Wheeler St. Petersburg, Fla. AL: Oh, wow. I wouldn't mind playing in California, just because I grew up there. I really like it there. Other than that, I truly don't care where I live. There really aren't any special places I want to go. L.A. is probably my favorite city, but there is no team down there, so it truly doesn't matter.
