About the play: The Packers need to break out of their funk. Brett Favre can make any throw. This play, "94 delay" can give Favre the route that he has executed so beautifully and help him get his confidence back. I love "94 delay" because it has a deep, an intermediate and a short throw built in. The QB will always look at the home run first. This play is no different. Favre will take a seven step drop and peek at Corey Bradford on his seam route. If the strong safety sites down on the dig route by the Z receiver, then the H back will be running free. If the strong safety gets deep, then Favre's eyes go right to the middle linebacker. If the linebacker stays with Dorsey Levens, then Favre has the Z receiver (Antonio Freeman) on the run at 16 yards. If the linebacker gets to Freeman, then the dump to Levens is right in front of Favre. This play has given the Packers a lot of mileage. It needs to work and should be effective against a bad 49ers secondary. Keys to the play: The main key is Bradford. He must run hard so his seam route can clear the inside for Freeman. If he does not hurry, then the strong safety will be able to see Freeman and hammer him right where Bradford has him looking. Bradford has to have a sense of urgency. It is critical that Freeman go no less than 14 yards and that he try to get to 16 yards. If he breaks it early, Favre will not be ready to throw because he is going seven steps. The play will be wide open if Freeman gets to his depth.
Defensive keys: The 49ers will have trouble stopping this as they have all good passing teams this year. | ALSO SEE Week 12 previews
