Player What ails him When he'll be back
Vinny Testaverde
Quarterback
Jets
Ruptured his Achilles tendon in the Jets' 30-28 loss to the Patriots. Testaverde, 35, crumpled to the turf untouched after making a quick cut to the ball when Curtis Martin fumbled in the second quarter. He immediately grabbed his left leg and writhed in pain. Testaverde, who was carried off the field by teammates, had surgery Sunday night and will miss the rest of the season.
Leon Johnson
Running back
Jets
Suffered torn ligaments in his left knee during the Jets' 30-28 loss to the Patriots. Johnson will have surgery on torn knee ligaments after the swelling in his knee goes down in about 2 to 3 weeks. He will miss the rest of the season.
Terrell Davis
Running back
Broncos
Injured his right wrist during a loss to the Dolphins on Monday. "It's stiff, and it swelled up a bit," he said the next day. Probable for Sunday's game against the Chiefs.
Ricky Williams
Running back
Saints
Reinjured the left ankle that hampered him in the preseason during the Saints' 19-10 victory over Carolina. Williams hopped to the sideline in the first quarter, then returned for two more carries in the second quarter before being taken to the locker room. He didn't play in the second half, finishing with 40 yards on 10 carries. Williams' status is uncertain for next Sunday's game at San Francisco. Saints coach Mike Ditka said Williams will practice Wednesday. On Thursday and Friday, Williams' playing status will be evaluated.
Herman Moore
Wide receiver
Lions
Sprained his left knee in the first quarter of the Lions' 28-20 victory at Seattle, ending his streak of catching a pass in 107 consecutive games. Moore's reception streak tied him for 10th longest in NFL history. Moore is expected to miss an estimated four weeks.
Brett Favre
Quarterback
Packers
Hurt his throwing hand in a collision with Russell Maryland's helmet in the third quarter against Oakland, but still managed to lead the Packers to a 28-24 comeback victory. The Packers said X-rays showed no broken bones in the hand. Favre is probable for Green Bay's game at Detroit on Sunday, the Packers announced Wednesday.
Thurman Thomas
Running back
Bills
Suffered a bruised liver and kidney on the first play of the Bills' 31-14 loss at Indianapolis and was finished for the day. He is expected to miss about six weeks.
Chad Brown
Linebacker
Seattle Seahawks
Brown hurt his neck on a run by Lions fullback Cory Schlesinger and had to leave the field in an ambulance. The All-Pro linebacker was taken to a hospital for X-rays, and the Seahawks said all neurological signs were positive. Brown will practice Wednesday after the team's day off and might play next Sunday at Chicago. Brown ran with the team Monday, but coach Mike Holmgren said Brown still is having trouble turning his head. Brown's neck will be iced all week to reduce soreness.
Jonathan Ogden
Offensive tackle
Ravens
The Pro Bowl tackle injured his hip early in the second quarter of the Ravens' 27-10 loss at St. Louis and didn't return. Status uncertain for next week's game vs. Pittsburgh.
Chris Chandler
Quarterback
Falcons
Atlanta's quarterback strained his right hamstring in the fourth quarter of the Falcons' 17-14 loss to the Vikings and hobbled off the field. Chandler is "doubtful at best" for next Monday night's game at Dallas, coach Dan Reeves said. Chandler will not practice until Thursday.
Lawrence Phillips
Running back
49ers
Phillips gained just eight yards in San Francisco's 41-3 loss at Jacksonville before leaving with a concussion. Phillips is fine, a team spokesman said Monday. He will practice Wednesday after the team's off-day and will play next Sunday against New Orleans.
Jeff Blake
Quarterback
Bengals
Blake left at the end of the third quarter in the Bengals' 36-35 loss at Tennessee with heat exhaustion and leg cramps. Status uncertain for next week's game vs. San Diego.
Eric Green
Tight End
Jets
Green pinched a nerve in his neck in the Jets loss to the Patriots. On the second snap of the second half, Green was hit so hard that he said he lost all feelings in his legs for awhile. Green returned to play late in the game. Green is listed as questionable for Sunday night's game at Buffalo.
Jason Ferguson
Defensive Tackle
Jets
Ferguson was injured in the third quarter when he sprained both his right ankle and knee. Questionable for Sunday night's game at Buffalo.
Charles Jordan
Wide receiver
Seahawks
Jordan suffered a severely strained hamstring and left the game early in the first quarter of the Seahawks' loss. He will be out of action for six weeks.
Todd Weiner
Offensive tackle
Seahawks
Suffered a high ankle sprain and had to leave the Seahawks' loss to the Lions. He is expected to be out six weeks after a bone chip was discovered in X-rays Monday.
Fred Thomas
Cornerback
Seahawks
Fractured the fibula in his right leg against the Lions. He had surgery Sunday night to insert a plate and screws on the broken bone. He is expected to miss 10 weeks.
Charles Fisher
Cornerback
Bengals
Fisher tore ligaments in his left knee Sunday. He completely tore three ligaments when he twisted while trying to stay with a receiver only 14:55 into his first NFL game Sunday. Out for the season and possible for his career. "To call it career-threatening is not exaggerating," trainer Paul Sparling said. "He's got a long road ahead of him."
