STORRS, Conn. (AP) -- Erin Batth scored 17 points and had nine
rebounds Friday to lead Clemson to a 64-50 victory over Drake in
the women's NCAA tournament East Regional.
Poor shooting plagued both teams early in the game, but Drake
(23-7) also had trouble handling the ball and Clemson (19-11) took
advantage. The Tigers converted 15 turnovers into 14 points in the
first half.
Batth had four points in a 15-0 run midway through the first
half as Clemson kept the Bulldogs scoreless for nearly six minutes.
Clemson scored 22 points off 20 Drake turnovers overall and
outpointed the eighth-seeded Bulldogs 24-12 inside. The Tigers
outrebounded Drake 39-35. Joanie Mungro also had nine rebounds for
Clemson.
The Tigers held Drake to 31 percent shooting from the floor.
Kristin Santa scored 13 points and Haley Sames had nine rebounds
for Drake.
