Blazers playbook: Damon Stoudamire
Coach's Edge

During the regular season, Portland relied much on point guard Damon Stoudamire. Though his numbers are down in the playoffs, he has a distinct advantage over the bigger, slower Ron Harper. Look for the Blazers to try and exploit it in the series.

ANIMATE THIS PLAY DIAGRAM WITH SHOCKWAVE
(A) Scottie Pippen (33) brings the ball up the floor in this set and initiates with a pick 'n roll off of Rasheed Wallace (30). Damon Stoudamire (3) slides up the strong side and meets Pippen at the wing.
(B) If Pippen (33) doesn't have a good look, he flips the ball to Stoudamire (3). Damon reverses the floor off a high screen from Arvydas Sabonis (11). From there, Stoudamire has a number of options -- pull up for the jumper, drive to the rack, hit Sabonis on the roll, or kick out to Steve Smith (8) in the corner for three.
