Faced with accusations of assault during an argument concerning a beach house, Wizards guard Jerry Stackhouse is hoping to reach a settlement, the Washington Post reported Thursday. Stackhouse's representatives are negotiating with attorneys representing the woman making the accusations. "I can say that we are in discussions," Wes Collins, Stackhouse's North Carolina-based attorney, told the newspaper. "I'm waiting to hear back from opposing counsel. We are hopeful that we can come to an agreement that satisfies both parties." A source told the Post that an agreement would require Stackhouse to pay the woman an undisclosed sum of money to drop the charges. Court documents state the real estate agent Patricia Nagy accused Stackhouse of "grabbing her around the neck" during an argument concerning how long Stackhouse was staying at the Atlantic Beach, N.C., beach house he had rented. Nagy then accused Stackhouse of "taking her to the ground." Stackhouse, 28, was renting the house near the North Carolina coast, according to a statement from Atlantic Beach Police Chief Scott Kilpatrick. Stackhouse was told that he and his guests had to leave around 2:30 p.m., but he apparently believed he had rented it until Monday, Kilpatrick said. He attempted to grab the lease from the woman, but grabbed her instead, Kilpatrick said. She felt threatened and went to the magistrate's office to take out a warrant, police said. Stackhouse surrendered to police -- accompanied by an attorney -- and was released on $2,000 bond. The Post stated that Nagy would not talk about the incident, but that Stackhouse has acknowledged "unintentional contact" with Nagy. "I was leasing this house and I thought I had one more day in it," Stackhouse said during a phone interview with the Post. "She was holding a lease and I asked to see the lease she had in her hand because I never signed a lease."
