Dallas is better off than its record indicated last season. Michael Finley is clearly the go-to guy in the offense, and Steve Nash should be better at the point. But if Dallas doesn't re-sign Gary Trent, the Mavs will be one of the weakest teams in the league. Shawn Bradley and Dirk Nowitzki won't win any Mr. Universe contests, so bulk is a major need. But with their first pick coming at No. 36 in a draft short on big men, the Mavericks won't have much to pick from.
