TORONTO (AP) -- Mark Jackson solidified his place among the best point guards in NBA history.

Vince Carter
Vince Carter had 33 points and a season-high 13 rebounds Tuesday.

Jackson moved past Isiah Thomas into fourth place on the NBA career assist list, and Vince Carter scored 33 points as the Toronto Raptors beat the Golden State Warriors 113-102 Tuesday night.

"A milestone like this epitomizes unselfishness, and I'm truly honored," Jackson said. "The guy I just passed is one of the guys I really watched as youngster, and learned from."

Jackson had 12 assists, raising his career total to 9,065. After passing Thomas with his ninth assist, Jackson hugged his teammates and received a standing ovation. Jackson, a 14-year veteran, played for New York, the Los Angeles Clippers, Indiana and Denver before signing with Toronto as a free agent in Aug. 2000.

"I've played with some unbelievable guys, and some great coaches," Jackson said. "Hopefully, I can be like Dick Clark and climb the charts."

John Stockton is the NBA's career assist leader with 14,255. Magic Johnson is second at 10,141, and Oscar Robertson is third with 9,887.

"Magic, Stockton, Oscar and Isiah are one name guys that you can just say their initials or their first names and it means something," Jackson said. "I'm truly honored to be in that class. I have to shake my head when I think about it. I realize that I'm not as talented as those guys, but it just shows that God has put his hand on my life, and I'm truly blessed."

Jackson also had 10 points for the Raptors, who had seven players in double figures.

Mookie Blaylock's jumper cut Toronto's lead to two points with 3:22 remaining, but Jackson followed with a three-point play.

Toronto's Antonio Davis made one of two free throws, and Jackson followed with an assist on Alvin Williams' 3-pointer, which gave the Raptors a nine point lead with 1:56 left.

After a turnover by Antawn Jamison, Jackson sealed the win with a 3-pointer with 1:20 remaining.

Toronto coach Lenny Wilkens praised Jackson for his unselfishness.

"It shows his abilities as a point guard," Wilkens said. "Everybody wants to be on the shooting side of the ball, and you don't always look for the assist."

Jamison had 31 points for the Warriors, who have lost five straight and 10 of their last 11. Golden State rookie Marc Jackson missed the game with a strained right groin

Jamison said he grew up watching Toronto's Jackson.

"He's a true professional, and that's how guys should carry themselves on and off the court," Jamison said. "You understand why he just broke a record. He's unselfish."

Blaylock had four steals, raising his career total to 2001. Only seven other players have 2000 steals in NBA history.

Carter, held to six points in his last game, had a season-high 13 rebounds for the Raptors, who ended a two-game losing streak.

"We really needed this win," Carter said. "I just made a real effort to rebound.

Carter scored 13 points as the Raptors built a 56-55 halftime lead.
