Spurs drop fourth in a row

RECAP | BOX SCORE | GAME FLOW

SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- The last time San Antonio had a streak this bad David Robinson was the only tower in the Spurs' frontcourt.

Tracy McGrady scored 38 points and led the Orlando Magic to a 112-109 overtime victory over San Antonio on Saturday night as the Spurs lost their fourth straight.

The Spurs' losing streak is their longest since a six-game skid late in the 1996-97 season when Tim Duncan was still a senior at Wake Forest.

"Losing streaks like this never happen to us," Duncan said. "To drop four in a row is unheard of."

Orlando reversed Thursday's decision against Dallas. The Magic squandered an 11-point lead in the last two minutes of regulation and went on to lose in overtime.

"This is a big win for us," McGrady said. "A lot of people expected us to come out with our heads down after what happened the other night in Dallas, but it didn't happen."

The Spurs trailed 107-104 with 16 seconds left in overtime when Terry Porter hit what appeared to be a 3-pointer from the right corner. While replays clearly showed Porter was behind the 3-point line, officials ruled Porter hit a 2-point basket and San Antonio faced a 107-106 deficit.

"Terry's shot was definitely a 3," Robinson said. "There's no question about it."

San Antonio had a chance to tie the game late in overtime, but Robinson went 1-for-2 from the line and cut Orlando's lead to 110-109 with 2.4 seconds left.

Darrell Armstrong hit two free throws with 1.4 seconds left and Porter's 3-point attempt to tie went in and out.

"We're going through a very tough stretch right now," Porter said. "Things are not going well for this team."

San Antonio rallied from a 13-point deficit early in the fourth quarter to force overtime, as Steve Kerr's 3-pointer tied the game at 93 with 1:36 to play.

Duncan, shooting 56 percent from the line compared to 76 percent last season, shot 5-for-13 from the line against Orlando. He went 1-for-6 on free throws in the last four minutes of regulation and overtime.

"I have to stop thinking at the line and just shoot," Duncan said. "I've never shot this bad in my career. To miss eight free throws and we lose by three, that's the difference in the game right there."

Duncan had 29 points and 17 rebounds, while Robinson added 28 points and 17 rebounds for the Spurs. Antonio Daniels had a career-high 12 assists for San Antonio.

Armstrong tied a career high with 14 assists for Orlando.

Three San Antonio regulars, Avery Johnson, Sean Elliott and Malik Rose were sidelined due to injury. Forward Ira Newble sprained his wrist in the first quarter and played just two more minutes.

Notes:
Orlando won its first game at the AlamoDome after losing seven. ... San Antonio fell to 2-9 when allowing its opponents to score more than 100 points. ... McGrady's 33 field goal attempts were a career high. ... San Antonio fell to 15-4 at home this season after losing its second in a row at the AlamoDome.
