SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) _ Larry Hughes scored eight of his 26 points in overtime as the Golden State Warriors beat the Portland Trail Blazers 99-96 Friday night in Chris Mullin's return to the Bay Area.

After the Warriors blew a five-point lead in the closing minutes, Adonal Foyle blocked Bonzi Wells' layup attempt as time expired in regulation. The Blazers demanded a goaltending call but didn't get it.

Playing without his familiar white headband, Hughes scored the Warriors' first five points in overtime and hit three free throws in the last 14.6 seconds.

Damon Stoudamire had 21 points for Portland and Rasheed Wallace added 15.

Mullin, who played 12 years with Golden State and returned this season after three years in Indiana, got a standing ovation when he checked in midway through the third quarter. Several fans wore Mullin replica jerseys in the Warriors' old uniform style.

Danny Fortson, acquired from Boston in the offseason to be Golden State's starting power forward, had 10 points in his Warriors debut.

Scottie Pippen, Steve Smith, Greg Anthony and Arvydas Sabonis didn't travel with Portland. Sabonis had arthroscopic knee surgery on Friday and will be out several weeks.

Around 5,000 fans attended the game at the San Jose Sharks' home arena. In their annual trade-off, the Sharks played a preseason game at the Warriors' Oakland Arena last month.
