MINOT, N.D. (AP) _ Kevin Garnett had 19 points and six rebounds and Chauncey Billups scored 22 points starting in place of the injured Terrell Brandon to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 104-94 preseason victory Friday over the Milwaukee Bucks.

One of Billups' five assists came on an alley-oop pass to Garnett midway through the third quarter at Minot State University. Garnett's dunk energized the Timberwolves and brought Minnesota within four points, 68-64. Minnesota then closed the quarter with a 12-5 run.

Forward Joe Smith added 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Wolves.

Minnesota also played without Wally Szczerbiak, who is recovering from offseason knee surgery. The Bucks were without All-Star forward Glenn Robinson.
