LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Sam Cassell scored 25 points and Ray Allen added 22 as the Milwaukee Bucks beat the Los Angeles Clippers 109-96 Wednesday night, spoiling the home team's first appearance at Staples Center.

Cassell scored 14 points in the third quarter for the Bucks, who finished the preseason with a 7-1 record. They open their regular season schedule next Tuesday at Houston.

Troy Hudson scored 25 points for the Clippers (4-3), who close out their exhibition schedule Friday at home against Golden State. They open the regular season next Tuesday at Staples Center against Seattle.

A 3-pointer by Derek Anderson game the Clippers their last lead, 62-60, with 9:13 left in the third quarter. Milwaukee responded with a 9-0 run that included a pair of short running jumpers and a three-point play by Allen, which capped the rally with 5:44 left in the period.

Robert Traylor's dunk, followed by a 3-pointer by Dale Ellis, extended Milwaukee's lead to 90-71 early in the fourth quarter. Hudson hit a pair of 3-pointers for Los Angeles and rookie Lamar Odom's two free throws capped a 14-4 spurt that trimmed the deficit to 85-74 with 6:51 remaining.

But that was as close as the Clippers got on a night when they committed 21 turnovers to Milwaukee's nine. Cassell hit a pair of medium-range jumpers 26 seconds apart and Allen added a layup and a 3-pointer for a 105-91 cushion with 2:47 left.

Danny Manning led the Bucks to a 54-53 halftime lead with 11 of his 17 points.
