BOISE, Idaho (AP) _ Vernon Maxwell scored 16 points in the fourth quarter as Seattle overcame a 21-point deficit to beat the Utah Jazz 102-96 Friday night in the Boise State University Pavilion.

Utah led 89-68 with 10:06 left in the fourth quarter after a layup by Alvin Sims. But Maxwell scored seven points and Brent Barry added five in a 12-point run that made it 89-80 with 5:56 left.

Seattle then want on a 18-0 tear to take a 100-93 lead with 43 seconds left.

Maxwell was the game's high scorer with 28 points and Barry added 20. The Jazz were led by two rookies. Rick Hughes, who started at forward in place of an injured Karl Malone, had 19 and Torraye Braggs had 12.

John Stockton scored 10 points for the Jazz but only played 15 minutes.
