SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) _ John Starks scored 25 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter and overtime, as the Golden State Warriors beat the Los Angeles Clippers 102-98 Tuesday night.

The preseason opener for both teams was preceded by a moment of silence in memory of Hall of Famer Wilt Chamberlain, who died in Los Angeles earlier Tuesday.

Donyell Marshall had 21 points for the Warriors, including consecutive fastbreak layups during a 10-2 run in overtime. Antawn Jamison and Chris Mills added 12 points apiece and Mookie Blaylock, making his Warriors' debut after being acquired in a June 29 trade with Atlanta, had 12 assists and four steals to go with his eight points.

Tyrone Nesby led the Clippers with 19 points, while Maurice Taylor and rookie Lamar Odom each scored 17. Odom, the Clippers' first-round pick, was 6-for-20 from the field but made some key baskets down the stretch.

Nesby, who missed two free throws that would have tied it with 54 seconds left in regulation, came back to force the overtime on a tip that evened the score at 90 with 0.7 seconds remaining.

After Starks opened the extra period with a 19-foot jumper, Odom hit a 3-pointer and a layup, putting the Clippers up 95-92.

But the Warriors scored 10 of the next 11 points, moving ahead 102-96 with 1:21 left in overtime on Mills' fastbreak layup off a steal. Odom answered with a layup but Charles Smith missed a 3-pointer with 14 seconds remaining in overtime. Golden State got the rebound and ran out the clock without taking another shot.
