MINNEAPOLIS -- A judge dismissed a protection order against Kirby Puckett that was obtained by a woman who said she had an 18-year affair with the Hall of Fame player.
Laura Nygren had been granted a temporary order against Puckett after accusing the former Minnesota Twins star of shoving her in his Bloomington condominium and threatening her.
Neither Puckett nor Nygren was in court Friday. Both sides declined to comment.
Puckett's estranged wife, Tonya, has filed for divorce. In January, she filed a police report saying her husband threatened to kill her during a phone conversation. Kirby Puckett has denied making the threat and authorities declined to bring charges.
According to a St. Louis Park police report filed in February, the 41-year-old Nygren gave police a recording of a telephone conversation in which Kirby Puckett told her, "If you sold me out you're in trouble."
Police have not charged Puckett because the threats were not specific enough, Capt. Rod Walker said. |
