TORONTO (AP) -- Curt Schilling's 100th victory with the Phillies might have been one of his last with the club.

Schilling pitched seven strong innings, and rookie Pat Burrell
hit a three-run homer as the Phillies beat the Toronto Blue Jays
8-5 Thursday night.
"I know that Ed Wade is listening and teams are asking,"
Schilling said, referring to Philadelphia's general manager.
"We've told Eddie that I want to sign an extension before the
season starts next year. You're talking about money somewhere in
between Brad Radke and Kevin Brown, and I don't see that here. I'd
love for that to happen here. Is that realistic? I don't know."
The Phillies, last in the NL East, gave up on their season by trading starter Andy Ashby to Atlanta for young pitchers Bruce Chen and Jimmy Osting.
Schilling was cleary disappointed with the trade.
"The unfortunate part is that we'll watch him go to Atlanta and
win seven or eight games this half," Schilling said.
Wade said before the game that he would have to be overwhelmed
to trade Schilling.
"I always felt in past years that no matter how much he talked,
it was nothing he would seriously consider," Schilling said. "I
honestly believe he is this year. From what I hear, he'll have to
be overwhelmed, but the potential is there."
Schilling (5-5), beginning to recover his form following
offseason shoulder surgery that delayed his season debut to April
30, has won four of his last six starts.
Philadelphia's ace -- in his eighth season with the club -- gave
up three runs on three homers, including Carlos Delgado's
AL-leading 29th. Schilling allowed five hits in seven innings,
struck out one and walked one, escaping a bases-loaded jam in the
sixth when Brad Fullmer hit into a double play.
"With the teams that are out there I think it certainly can
happen," Schilling said. "There are still teams out there that
are going after pitching. I think it's a very different situation
from last year because I know Eddie is listening."
Schilling is 100-77 with the Phillies, 104-88 overall. Coming
in, he had been 0-4 with a 5.88 ERA in eight regular-season
appearances against Toronto, beating the Blue Jays in the 1993
World Series.
Philadelphia manager Terry Francona said the club would be
reluctant to trade their ace.
"Nobody knows the value of Schilling more than me or Ed Wade,"
Francona said. "He's about as good as there is. This time of the
year it always crops up because Schilling brings it up, and until
our record is better it will keep coming up. But I'll be willing to
bet Schilling will be in the a Phillie uniform longer than any of
us."
Tony Batista homered twice for the Toronto, raising his season
total to 26. Fullmer also connected.
Leading 4-3 after seven innings, the Phillies added four runs in
the eighth on Mike Lieberthal's RBI grounder and Burrell's homer to
center.
Despite not joining the Phillies until May 24, Burrell is second
among NL rookies with 36 RBI and third in home runs with seven.
Toronto starter Chris Carpenter (7-8) gave up eight runs and 10
hits in 7 2/3 innings.
"I made some mistakes in the eighth and they capitalized on
them," Carpenter said.
Batista made it close with a two-run homer in the ninth off
Chris Brock, giving him three multihomer games this season and four
in his career. Jeff Brantley got the final out for his 14th save in
15 chances.
Mickey Morandini's two-run double over the head of right fielder Raul Mondesi and Desi Relaford's RBI single gave Philadelphia a 3-0
lead in the second.
After Fullmer hit his 15th homer in the bottom half, Ron Gant hit his 15th in the third to make it 4-1.
Delgado homered in the fourth and Batista homered in the fifth, his 25th.
Game notes
Schilling has a no-trade clause. "He's indicated to us
that there are some teams that's he's interested in going to. If
any of those clubs made a good offer, we would consider it," Wade
said. ... Burrell has 36 RBI in 42 games. ... Toronto SS Alex
Gonzalez has missed 10 straight games with a strained right groin.
... Fullmer left in the sixth inning a cramp in his left leg. ...
Gant went 3-for-4. ... Schilling said he left after seven innings
because he pulled a muscle in his left side. He said it wasn't
serious.
