ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) _ Brothers Jason and Jeremy Giambi homered for Oakland, but the Anaheim Angels rallied from five runs back Monday night to beat the Athletics 9-8.

Mo Vaughn homered twice and drove in five runs for the Angels, Troy Glaus went 4-for-4, and Benjie Molina provided the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly in the seventh.

The Giambis became the first brothers to homer in the same game since last Oct. 2 when Vladimir and Wilton Guerrero connected for Montreal.

Vaughn's second homer, a three-run shot off reliever Luis Vizcaino in the sixth inning, evened it at 8. The Angels fell behind 8-3 in the top of the fourth.

Jason Giambi hit a two-run homer, his major league-leading 14th, in the second inning, then Jeremy hit a three-run shot in the fourth, his second of the season.

Both homers came off Ramon Ortiz. Jason's sailed 430 feet into the right-field seats, and Jeremy's liner cleared the fence in right-center and was measured at 405 feet.

Jason, 29, and Jeremy, 25, joined a rare group of brothers to homer in the same game. Among the others to do it are Hank and Tommie Aaron, Cal and Billy Ripken, and Billy and Tony Conigliaro.

Terrence Long also had a three-run homer, his fourth, off Ortiz to cap a six-run fourth inning.

The Athletics' Ariel Prieto, making his first major league appearance since undergoing reconstructive surgery on his right elbow in 1998, gave up five runs on 11 hits in four-plus innings and left with Oakland ahead 8-5.

T.J. Mathews (1-2) gave up the Angels' ninth run, which Glaus scored after doubling with one out and advancing on a wild pitch.

Mark Petkovsek (2-1) allowed one hit over 1 1-3 innings. Troy Percival pitched the ninth for his ninth save.

Ortiz was rocked for eight runs, seven earned, on six hits in 3 2-3 innings. He walked three and struck out three.

The Athletics have scored 62 runs over their last six games but have allowed 56 and lost four times _ blowing leads of four, eight, five and five runs.

Vaughn hit a leadoff homer against Prieto in the fifth after having an RBI double in the first. Adam Kennedy had three hits for the Angels, and Gary DiSarcina had two, including a two-run double in the second.

Notes: Other brothers to homer in the same game were Paul and Lloyd Waner, Graig and Jim Nettles, Rick and Wes Ferrell, Al and Tony Cuccinello, Matty and Jesus Alou, and Aaron and Bret Boone. The Aarons and the Waners homered in the same game on three occasions, and Conigliaros, Nettles and Ripkens did it twice. ... The Giambis have started the same game seven times. ... The Athletics' most runs ever over a six-game stretch was 68 from June 14-18, 1969. DiSarcina was back at shortstop after being sidelined since May 2 with a sore shoulder, but he left the game in the sixth inning. ... Anaheim pitcher Tim Belcher, trying to work his way back from November elbow surgery, has experienced fatigue in his arm throwing on the sidelines and will be reevaluated this week.
