Bucs, Gators climbing

SPECIAL TO ESPN.COM

Jan. 13
Dick's Stock Watch identifies whose stock is up and whose is down over the past week across the world of sports.

Buccaneers -- The Tampa Bay Bucs defense was suffocating in the win over the 49ers on Sunday. They shut down Jeff Garcia and Terrell Owens and now it is off to Philadelphia. I really believe this Bucs team will beat the Eagles, go to San Diego and defeat the Titans or Raiders and come back with the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Jon Gruden is a fighter who really believes and he has this team feeling it can go all the way.

Florida Gators -- Billy Donovan and the Florida Gators enjoyed a great week. First came a big-time road win in Starkville over a red-hot Mississippi State team. The Gators followed that up with a victory over Georgia on Anthony Roberson's buzzer-beating three pointer. Florida now sports a nine-game win streak.

New Hall of Famers -- Congratulations to Eddie Murray and Gary Carter for making it to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Murray is a member of the elite 3,000-hit, 500-homer club!

Donovan McNabb -- Donovan McNabb of the Eagles put forth a gutsy performance in the playoff win over the Falcons. It was his first performance back following a broken ankle.

Washington Capitals -- I don't know much about hockey, but the Washington Capitals scored 12 goals on Saturday night vs. Florida. That's like a football score, getting 12 on the board!

UCLA Bruins -- UCLA basketball is really struggling, and there are rumors that Steve Lavin is considering handing in his resignation. The Bruins have already lost five games at home -- against San Diego, Northern Arizona, Michigan, USC and St. John's -- and sit at 4-7 overall. Lavin is really feeling the heat.

Toronto Raptors -- I know the Toronto Raptors finally broke their losing streak, but it has been a disappointing season. Yes, injuries have hurt, especially to Vince Carter, but Toronto has just one win in its last 13 games.

San Francisco 49ers -- The 49ers performance was subpar down in Tampa Bay. The effort just wasn't there, and the team played like it didn't feel like there was a real chance to win the game. I feel bad for Steve Mariucci, because he is evaluated after every game. This team doesn't have the same talent the 'Niners enjoyed when they were winning Super Bowls under Bill Walsh.
