From her first Grand Slam singles victory in 1978 to her ninth Wimbledon singles titles in 1990, Martina Navratilova won hundreds of titles and dozens of Grand Slams victories.

A look at her career:

1: Navratilova held the No. 1 ranking in the world for 331 weeks, second only to Steffi Graf, who was No. 1 for 377 weeks.

2: Number of times Navratilova won the Australian Open singles title (1981, '83).

3: Navratilova became the third woman to capture the rare "Triple Crown" after she won the singles, doubles and mixed doubles titles at the 1987 U.S. Open. Billie Jean King and Margaret Court are the only other women to accomplish the feat.

4: Number of Navratilova's U.S. Open singles titles (1983, '84, '86, '87).

6: Beginning with the 1983 Wimbledon crown, Navratilova won six consecutive Grand Slam women's singles titles. The record, which included three of four Grand Slam titles in 1984, was snapped as Navratilova was eliminated in the semifinals at the '84 Australian Open.

7: From 1974 when she teamed with Ivan Molina to win her first Grand Slam title, to 1995 when she teamed with Jonathan Stark to win her final Slam, Navratilova won seven Grand Slam mixed doubles titles.

8: Navratilova was just 8 years old when she played in her first tennis tournament.

9: Navratilova won nine singles titles at Wimbledon, more than any man or woman in history at the All England Club.

14: Number of times Navratilova played Chris Evert in a Grand Slam final. Ten of Navratilova's 18 Grand Slam victories came at Evert's expense.

16: In 1983, Navratilova won a career-record 16 singles titles -- including Wimbledon, U.S. Open and Australian Open championships.

19: Number of Grand Slam titles Navratilova won at Wimbledon (nine singles, seven doubles and three mixed doubles).

20: Navratilova and Pam Shriver teamed to win 20 Grand Slam doubles titles (seven at the Australian Open, five at Wimbledon and four each at the U.S. Open and French Open).

31: Including the wins with Shriver, Navratilova won 31 Grand Slam doubles titles overall. Other doubles partners included Billie Jean King and Chris Evert.

32: In her 22-year professional career, Navratilova appeared in 32 Grand Slam singles finals.

80: Times Navratilova and Chris Evert played, building one of the greatest rivalries in sports history. Navratilova leads the all-time series 43-37.

86: In 1983, Navratilova posted an 86-1 record, with the only loss coming at the French Open.

90: In 1982, Navratilova won 90 of 93 matches, including a string 41 consecutive wins at one point.

109: Number of consecutive matches Navratilova and doubles partner Pam Shriver won from April 1983 to July 1985.

165: Number of doubles crowns, record for men and women, Navratilova had won when she retired after the 1994 season.

167: Number of singles titles, a record for men and women, Navratilova had won when she retired after the 1994 season.
