Chronopoulos scores 2 Revs goals

FOXBORO, Mass. (AP) -- Ted Chronopoulos scored two first-half goals to lead the New England Revolution to a 2-1 victory over D.C. United on Saturday.

New England (7-12-5) ended a three-match losing streak against United (6-15-2). The Revolution had lost three straight by a combined score of 10-2.

Chronopoulos opened the scoring in the 9th minute when he converted a low crossing pass from Andy Williams from about 5 yards.

Williams also set up Chronopoulos' second goal in the 30th minute.

Rusty Pierce gathered a loose ball in midfield, passed quickly to Cate, who passed to Williams. Williams then sent a pass Chronopoulos, who broke in alone on the left side and scored from 14 yards.

In the 32nd minute, United's Stephen Armstrong knocked in a loose ball to make it 2-1.

Revolution goalkeeper Jose Fernandez protected the one-goal lead when he stopped a close-range volley from Armstrong in stoppage time.
