Fire's six-game home streak ends

CHICAGO (AP) -- Diego Serna and Alex Pineda Chacon scored to lead the Miami Fusion to a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Fire on Wednesday night.

The Fusion (14-4-5) increased their league-leading point total to 46 and snapped Chicago's six-game home unbeaten streak.

Miami was without head coach Ray Huson, who was hospitalized for exhaustion after complaining of chest pains and dizziness during Saturday's game against the New England Revolution. Assistant coaches John Trask and Eric Eichman handled the coaching duties.

The Fire (12-6-4), who lost for just the second time this season at Soldier Field, remained atop the Central Division.

Pineda Chacon beat Zach Thornton low to open the scoring in the 15th minute.

After passes from Chris Henderson and Serna, Pineda Chacon slipped a shot under a falling Thornton from 7 yards for his 12th goal of the season.

Dema Kovalenko scored his sixth goal of the season in the 32nd minute, tying the game at 1. After Peter Nowak's free kick sailed through heavy traffic across the front of the goal, a header by Kovalenko bounced underneath Nick Rimando.

The Fusion reclaimed the lead on Serna's league-leading 15th goal. Henderson and Preki set up Serna's game-winner in the 38th minute.

Serna has a career-high 43 points with five games remaining. His previous career best was 42 points last season.
