Wynalda: Two goals, assist

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Eric Wynalda had two goals and an assist to lead the Chicago Fire past the Tampa Bay Mutiny 3-2 Saturday night.

Wynalda opened the scoring in the final seconds of the first half, taking a pass on the right side from Peter Nowak and shooting it inside the far post.

Josh Keller tied it in the 51st minute, beating Fire goalkeeper Zach Thornton off a rebound of Steve Ralston's shot from close in.

Chicago (9-3-3) regained the lead in the 79th minute on a goal by Hristo Stoitchkov, who set up the winning goal by Wynalda four minutes later.

"We did a good job of getting in on goal all night," Wynalda said. "It is great to have a guy like Stoitchkov setting me up. His assist on my second goal was world class."

Eric Quill pulled the Mutiny (3-13-1) within a goal in the closing seconds of stoppage time.

The Fire are unbeaten in their last six games. Tampa Bay has won only once in its last 14.

Perry Van Der Beck and Jim McGeough shared coaching duties for the Mutiny. Both were assistants under former head coach Alfonso Mondelo, who resigned Thursday.
