Quaranta's two goals carry United

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Santino Quaranta scored two goals to lead D.C. United to a 3-0 victory over the Kansas City Wizards on Saturday.

Abdul Thompson-Conteh opened the scoring for United in the 53rd minute when he scored off a header on a pass from Chris Albright. The goal was Thompson-Conteh's eighth of the season.

United (5-7-0) took a 2-0 lead two minutes later when midfielder Bryan Namoff passed to Quaranta, who scored on a tap-in.

Quaranta scored his second goal in the 63rd minute from 14 yards.

Thompson-Conteh had the best scoring chance of either team in the first half when he split the Wizards defense in the 22nd minute. Backup keeper Bo Oshoniyi, filling in for the injured Tony Meola for the third straight game, charged the forward and cleared the ball.

Kansas City (5-7-1) has now given up 12 goals in its last three games.
