Nine-man Fusion outlast Revs

FOXBORO, Mass. (AP) – Tyrone Marshall's goal 10 minutes into the second half gave the nine-man Miami Fusion a 1-0 victory over the New England Revolution on Saturday night.

Miami (2-0) had the better of play throughout the rough match that featured 14 yellow cards and the ejection of Miami's Diego Serna and Carlos Llamosa in the second half.

The Fusion were down to nine players for the final 13 minutes before a crowd of 15,576 at Foxboro Stadium.

The Revolution (0-2) nearly went ahead in the 51st minute, when Joe Franchino shot just wide of the left post from 17 yards.

Four minutes later, with the Revolution defense converging on him, Marshall took a short pass from Serna and sent a right-footed shot into the left side of New England's net from 10 yards out.

New England's best scoring chances were thwarted five minutes before halftime. Miami goalie Nick Rimando deflected a 23-yard shot by Andy Williams and then held onto the rebound that Wolde Harris tried tucking home from 5 yards away.
