FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) -- Ante Razov scored three second-half goals for the first hat-trick in Fire history as Chicago beat the Miami Fusion 3-0 Saturday night.
Miami (1-3-4) is winless in six matches and has scored only one
goal in its last 595 minutes of play. Chicago improved to 4-4-1.
Razov gave the Fire a 1-0 lead four minutes after halftime.
Midfielder Evan Whitfield sent a crossing pass from the right wing
to a charging Razov, whose diving header beat Fusion goalkeeper
Garth Lagerway from the 6-yard box.
Razov beat Lagerway from 18 yards to make it 2-0 in the 56th
minute.
An unmarked Razov broke through the middle of the Fusion defense
and, when Lagerway couldn't clear Jesse Marsch's crossing pass,
drilled in the ball to close the scoring with 18 minutes left.
The first three-goal game in the MLS this season raised Razov's
total to seven goals.
Miami's best scoring opportunity was Roy Lassiter's close-range
shot, which was deflected by Fire goalkeeper Zach Thornton at the
86th minute.
