COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Henry Zambrano scored the game-winning goal and added an assist as the New York-New Jersey MetroStars snapped a 12-game losing streak by beating the Columbus Crew 2-1 in a Major League Soccer game Sunday.

Zambrano scored the winning goal after dribbling 30 yards up the middle of the field, turning around Crew defender Todd Yeagley, and blasting a shot from 10 yards out past onrushing Columbus goalkeeper Mark Dougherty in the 86th minute.

Zambrano helped set up the game's first goal in the 38th minute on a give-and-go with Eduardo Hurtado. Zambrano passed to Hurtado, who scored from 20 yards out.

Columbus tied the game five minutes later when Mike Clark played a ball out of the backfield to Brian West, who passed to Brian McBride, who one-timed it past MetroStars' goalkeeper Mike Ammann from five yards out.

The MetroStars outshot the Crew 14-13, but Columbus led 7-4 in shots on goal. Ammann had six saves to Dougherty's two.

Columbus, which has clinched a playoff spot, fell to 16-11 in the Eastern Conference. New York-New Jersey improved to 6-22, but remained last.
