Though Alexei had previously said that he never wanted to leave Russia, he says that conditions in Russia have forced him to leave. He is applying for a U.S. green card, and he wants to become an American citizen "as soon as possible." In the future, he only wants to return to Russia for vacation.
Alexei recently bought a 3-bedroom condo in Marlboro, NJ. He lives there with his cocker spaniel, Lawrence.
