Michael is the two-time defending national champion. He was the first father since Roger Turner in 1934 to win the title. He won a bronze medal at the 1999 and 2000 World Championships.
Michael lifts weights five days a week. He bench-presses 300 pounds and leg-presses 1000 pounds.
