Though Yulia placed second at the 1998 Russian Championships, she did not make the Russian World Team. The Russian Figure Skating Federation chose Irina Slutskaya over Yulia even though Irina finished fourth at Russian Nationals that year.
Yulia enjoys movies, especially "Gone with the Wind" and old Soviet movies. She also likes dance, both classical and contemporary.
