· Don's father, John Baldwin, Sr., was a top amateur skater in the early seventies. He barely missed qualifying for the 1972 Olympic team, finishing 4th at the 1972 U.S. Nationals. Don's father and his mother, Donna, have coached him throughout his career. He used to compete in Novice dance events with his sister, who is also named Donna, through 1996.

· Don is studying to become an aerospace engineer. This is his final semester at Santa Monica College. He plans to transfer to UCLA next year.

· In his short program, he portrays James Bond.
