Nike store at ESPN.com to launch this fall

September 5, 2000

ESPN.com and Nike.com this fall are launching an online Nike store at ESPN.com- the first anchor store of the ESPN.com Mall - as ESPN.com re-launches its shopping area. The Nike store at ESPN.com will enable ESPN users to purchase Nike products online. ESPN.com, part of Walt Disney Internet Group (NYSE:DIG), is the number one sports Web site.

With a direct connection to Nike.com's comprehensive product line, the Nike store at ESPN.com will feature an assortment of Nike products selected for ESPN.com visitors, including Nike Team Sports licensed apparel and Nike's made-to-order shoe program, NIKEiD.

"Our new relationship with Nike is the first step of our new e-commerce strategy, bringing two of the biggest names in sports together to the benefit of our fans," said John Skipper, senior vice president & general manager, ESPN Internet Group. "The Nike store and other ESPN.com Mall inhabitants will serve to drive revenues and provide a superior online shopping experience for users."

"Being the anchor tenant of the ESPN.com Mall offers Nike.com an opportunity to broaden the exposure of its online store, and the great sports product it carries, to the athletes and fans that regularly visit ESPN.com for its comprehensive sports coverage," said Mary Kate Buckley, vice president and general manager of Nike.com. The ESPN.com Mall, Shop@ESPN.com, will assemble premier providers of sports merchandise - athletic wear and footwear, league-licensed apparel and merchandise, authenticated merchandise, sports videos, event tickets, and more. Shop@ESPN.com will enable ESPN.com to offer a great variety and depth of products, while continuing to bring unique, exclusive offerings to ESPN users.

Each Shop@ESPN.com merchant will present a product line selected expressly for ESPN.com shoppers. The ESPN.com shopping experience ultimately will offer tens of thousands of premier sports products, presented both within Shop@ESPN.com, and offered throughout ESPN.com in contextual commerce windows where products will relate directly to sports content on the page. The Mall will enable sports fans to capitalize on the ease, immediacy and security of shopping online while checking out the latest and best sports news, statistics, analysis and games provided by ESPN.com. Fans will be able to access the Nike store at ESPN.com via the ESPN.com home page and various ESPN.com sections and other Walt Disney Internet Group Web sites.
