Formerly a fisheries biologist in Oklahoma, Cook has fished competitively for more than 25 years. He won the first BASS event he ever fished: the 1980 BASS Federation Chapter Championship. He has qualified for 14 Classics, winning the 1991 world championship on Chesapeake Bay.
