Cara Capuano first joined ESPN as an ESPNEWS anchor in June 2000. Through the next four years, her role expanded to include anchor of ESPN's SportsCenter, play-by-play commentator for women's college basketball and fill-in host for a variety of ESPN Radio staples, including GameDay and GameNight. In 2009, she returned to ESPN as a studio host for SEC Weekly on ESPNU and as a sideline reporter for the SEC Network's college football games and a play-by-play announcer for SEC Network women's college basketball games.

From 2004 through 2008, Capuano wore a variety of hats for FSN Northwest, a regional cable station serving Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska. Along with anchoring pregame and postgame coverage for FSN-NW's primary broadcast partners, the Seattle Mariners, Seattle SuperSonics and Pac-10 Conference, she added sideline reporter to her resume, covering the Seahawks for FOX as well as Washington, Washington State and Oregon State.

As a play-by-play announcer for college basketball, Capuano was the first woman to call Pac-10 men's game on FSN. She also covered the WNBA and women's college volleyball, gymnastics, softball and soccer, serving as the national voice of Pac-10 Soccer on FSN in 2006-08. At the time, Capuano also was a regular contributor to FSN Detroit's programming, working from the anchor studio for coverage of the Tigers, Pistons, Red Wings and Big Ten Conference.

During her four years in the Pacific Northwest, Capuano covered Super Bowl XL, the NBA Playoffs, a National Championship for the 2005 Washington Volleyball Squad, WNBA Playoffs (including a WNBA title for the 2004 Seattle Storm), several Championship Tournament efforts by local collegiate teams and WIAA and OSAA State High School Championships.

Capuano also proudly lists as some of her best work her collaboration with Special Olympics Washington, serving as a host for FSN's coverage of both the Summer and Winter Games. As a resident of Seattle, Capuano was an active member of the local community, serving as an emcee for a variety of local philanthropic initiatives, including Special Olympics Washington, The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Childhaven and First Tee of Greater Seattle.

Before Capuano's first stint at ESPN, she spent one year as a sports anchor, reporter and producer for weekend news programs at KRIS-TV in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Before KRIS-TV, Capuano was the sports director from 1998-99 at KCTZ-TV in Bozeman, Mont., a former member of the Montana Television Network (MTN). Capuano also served as play-by-play commentator, analyst and sideline reporter for MTN, via KPAX-TV in Missoula, Mont., for Division I men's and women's college athletics.

From 1996-98, she served as a sports producer for UPN-13 News and Talking About Sports, a live weekly sports talk show in Los Angeles.

Capuano graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1995 from the University of California, San Diego, with a bachelor's degree in biochemistry and cell biology. Recruited like a star athlete for her science skills, she spent a year on full scholarship pursuing a PhD in Biological Chemistry at UCLA.
