Keane's second stint with Avs comes to end

Associated Press

On the same day they lose defenseman Bryan Marchment, the Avalanche also confirmed Friday they have cut veteran winger Mike Keane.

Avalanche spokesman Hayne Ellis said the team had bought out the final year on the contract of the 36-year-old Keane.

The move ends the second stint with the Avalanche for Keane, who won a Stanley Cup with Colorado in 1996 before leaving for Dallas.

In his 15-year career, Keane has also won championships in Montreal (1993) and Dallas (1999). He played 65 games for Colorado last season, scoring five goals.
