The Philadelphia Flyers have rejected a trade proposal from the Toronto Maple Leafs that would have sent Sergei Berezin and a first-round draft pick to Philadelphia for Eric Lindros, the Toronto Sun reported.

The Leafs, sources told the newspaper, made their latest pitch last week exactly a month after Flyers owner Ed Snider claimed trade negotiations with Toronto were dead.
Reached Tuesday by ESPN, Flyers general manager Bobby Clarke confirmed that he spoke to the Leafs last week, but wouldn't talk about any specific offer from the Leafs. "Toronto hasn't offered anything near what we would think is enough," Clarke said.
In December, the Leafs offered Yanic Perreault and two second-rounders for Lindros, the Sun reported.
Last week, Lindros reiterated that he's interested in playing only for Toronto. And according to the Sun, the Leafs and Lindros have worked out the basis of a salary structure should a deal be finalized.
Lindros would sign a contract that would pay him $50 million over five years, an indication that the Leafs, if they do get him, intend to build their team around him.
Lindros, who turns 28 this month, is a restricted free agent. He hasn't played since last spring when he suffered his sixth concussion in 27 months. Dr. James Kelly, a Chicago neurologist, cleared him to play in November. Send this story to a friend
