NEW YORK -- St. Louis Blues captain Chris Pronger was
suspended by the NHL Friday for one game for leaving the bench and
becoming involved in a fight against the Los Angeles Kings.

Blues wing Pavol Demitra sustained a broken nose when the Kings'
Kelly Buchberger hit him with an elbow in the neutral zone during
the second period of Wednesday night's game. The hit prompted
Pronger to leave the bench during a line change and begin fighting
with Buchberger.
"It was a good hit, but he hit one of our best players,"
Pronger said. "You have to make Pavol feel comfortable on the ice.
If guys aren't out there taking liberties, he'll feel more
comfortable."
Pronger, who missed Friday night's game against Minnesota, will
return Tuesday against Detroit. The suspension will cost him
$14,505.35.
