DALLAS -- John LeClair, Mike Modano and Mark Recchi were
among the missing Thursday night when the Philadelphia Flyers met
the Dallas Stars in a matchup involving two of last season's
conference finalists.

Stars center Modano was out because of a lower back strain, but
the club said he could be back for Saturday's game against
Washington.
LeClair, the Flyers left wing, sat out his second straight game
because of back spasms. He did not make the three-game road trip
that concludes Saturday at Phoenix and is expected to miss about a
week.
Also out for Philadelphia was Recchi, a right wing, with a
possible concussion and a foot injury.
Recchi, suffering from headaches and fatigue following
Wednesday's game in Minnesota, will rest until at least Monday. He
will undergo neurological tests then that will be compared with his
baseline tests, team doctor Gary Dorshimer said.
Stars center Jamie Langenbrunner was with his wife, who had a
baby earlier Thursday.
The Stars also placed center Shaun Van Allen on injured reserve,
retroactive to Oct. 11. Dallas recalled center Greg Leeb from Utah
of the International Hockey League to fill the spot vacated by Van
Allen, who is out indefinitely with back spasms.
