Hobey finalist signs with Anaheim

Associated Press

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The Anaheim Mighty Ducks agreed to terms Monday with free-agent forward Andy McDonald, a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award as the nation's top collegiate player.

McDonald, a 22-year-old center from Colgate University, had 25 goals and 33 assists in 34 games as a senior. He was selected as Eastern College Athletic Conference Player of the year.

In his four seasons at Colgate, McDonald scored 67 goals and added 88 assists in 137 games.

If McDonald is the Hobey Baker winner, he would become the fourth current member of the Ducks to be selected, joining Paul Kariya, Kip Miller and Tony Hrkac.

The voting will be announced on Friday.
