CALGARY, Alberta (AP) -- The Anaheim Mighty Ducks' first line was
too much for the Calgary Flames.
Teemu Selanne and Paul Kariya each had a goal and an assist, and
Steve Rucchin scored the go-ahead goal late in the second period as
the Mighty Ducks beat the Flames 6-3 on Sunday night.

Rucchin broke a 2-2 tie with a power-play goal at 17:13 of the
second period. With Calgary's Jeff Shantz serving a high-sticking
penalty, the Ducks needed just 11 seconds to score when Oleg
Tverdovsky passed to Selanne behind the Flames' net and Selanne
found Rucchin open in front.
Kariya gave Anaheim a 4-2 lead 42 seconds into the third period,
also on a power play. Tverdovsky passed to Selanne at the Calgary
blue line. Selanne sent a slap shot low and wide to Kariya at the
side of the net and he deflected it in.
"Our first period wasn't that good but in the second and third
periods, we played the kind of hockey we want to play," said
Selanne. "We're playing pretty good hockey right now, but we can
still play way better so we can't be satisfied."
The goal extended Kariya's points streak to eight games.
"You can't afford to give guys like Teemu Selanne and Paul
Kariya too much space, they're just too skilled," Flames coach Don
Hay said.
Tony Hrkac, Jim Cummins and Vitali Vishnevski also scored for
Anaheim (6-3-1-2), which has lost just once in its last six road
games (4-1-1). Tverdovsky had three assists.
Jeff Cowan, Dave Lowry and Jarome Iginla scored for Calgary
(3-8-1-0), which is winless in its last five (0-4-1). The Flames
are 1-5-1-0 at home.
The Flames had an opportunity to cut into the 4-2 deficit early
in the third when they got a power-play opportunity on a minor
penalty to Cummins, but were stymied by goalie Guy Hebert, who
finished with 22 saves.
Hebert made the save of the night on that power play when, lying
prone, he gloved a shot by Marc Savard who was at the top of the
crease.
"We've got to start getting some bounces, getting the feeling
of winning back so we know what's it like," the Flames' Cory
Stillman said. "You've got to hate to lose."
When Cummins' penalty ended, he took a breakaway pass from
Kariya and beat Mike Vernon on a deke to make it 5-2. It was his
third goal, matching his total last season when he scored three
times in 47 games for Montreal.
Vernon stopped 21 shots.
After Cummins's goal, the Pengrowth Saddledome crowd of 16,144,
started chanting "We want Freddie, We want Freddie" in reference
to backup goaltender Fred Brathwaite.
Game notes
Flames defenseman Phil Housley played in the 1,300th game.
... Cummins, who has three goals in 12 games, entered this season
with four goals in 177 games over the previous three years. ...
Flames defenseman Tommy Albelin, who suffered a concussion in
Minnesota on Friday night, missed the game and is listed as
day-to-day.
