CALGARY, Alberta (Ticker) -- Derek Morris' power-play goal 4:42 into the second period proved to be the difference as the Calgary Flames edged the Toronto Maple Leafs, 3-2.

Morris took a slap shot from the left point that found its way between the pads of Maple Leafs goaltender and former Flame Jason Muzzatti. Fred Brathwaite, who made 14 saves overall, stopped four shots over the final 20 minutes to preserve the victory.

Phil Housley had a goal and an assist, and Marc Savard netted two assists for Calgary, which improved to 1-2. The Flames scored only one goal in losses to Montreal and Ottawa.

Lonny Bohonos and Sylvain Cote scored first-period goals for Toronto, which fell to 1-2. Muzzatti made 14 saves and Jimmy Waite stopped all 13 shots he faced for Toronto, which was outshot 30-14.

The Maple Leafs failed to convert any of their six power-play opportunities, while the Flames were 2-of-10 with the man advantage.
