Editor's note: What is life in an NFL training camp like? Kicker Doug Brien takes you inside the camp of the New Orleans Saints with his daily diary for ESPN.com.

THIBODAUX, La. -- Thanks to all of you who prayed for cooler weather down here in Bayou country; the last two days have been fairly nice. Yesterday?s 3 p.m. practice was our best so far. It?s all about the clouds. Even though it was still hot and humid, the cloud cover made things very manageable.

The practice was not quite as fun for our tight ends. With Andrew Glover and Austin Wheatley down, Cameron Cleeland and Cuncho Brown had to take all of the repetitions. Cam told me after practice that it was the toughest practice of his life. Cam was taking so many repetitions that the trainers actually assigned a person to him make sure he had water between every play.

Speaking of personal attention, the people down here in Thibodaux have been extremely friendly to us. The captain of the Nicholls State police force gave a few of us a ride from practice to dinner the other day. He also helped one of our rookie players, Pete Destefano, get a package that had been misdirected on the Nicholls State campus. At dinner, the head chef often comes out to mingle with the players and make sure the food is good. I think the woman who works at the desk in our dorms says "hello" or "good day" to every player that passes. Personally, I really enjoy the small town atmosphere of Thibodaux; it's very refreshing.
