User feedback: NFL's nastiest players

ESPN.com

Users sounded off on the nastiest players in the NFL. For Mike Golic's list, click here.

Where's Romo?
You've got to have Bill Romanowski on the nastiest player team. He's the Bill Laimbeer of professional football. Brian Cox a close second and I agree on your top 3 picks.
Greg Lofland
Arlington, Texas

That's a pretty good list you guys put together, I can't believe ya'll left out Bill Romanowski though. How about John Lynch? He's constantly looking to take someone's head off. Pat Tillman is another good candidate for head-hunting. Somebody else will have to help me out with a couple more names.
William Bell
Ramstein AB, Germany

Bill Romanowski would not make the nastiest list, but would make a similar type of list - dirtiest player. The "nastiest" list can be taken as a compliment, while the "dirtiest" is meant to be an insult. Romanowski shows his lack of respect for the competition by conducting unsportsmanlike conduct whenever the opportunity presents itself. His actions reflect one who disrespects the game instead of one who will stop at nothing to dominate on the field. Spitting and cheap shots are his calling cards instead of hard hits and rock-solid play. This is why he should stay off this particular list, but be included on any type of dirty list.
Shaun Putman
Van Wert, Ohio

What about Brett?
Brett Favre. What, you say? A quarterback? As a rabid Lions fan, I hate the guy. Have for many years now. But as a football fan, you gotta love a guy who takes a sack from a 300-pound lineman, gets up, grabs his facemask, yells who-knows-what in his face, or better yet, laughs at him, then on the next play throws a touchdown pass on third-and-long in the waning minutes of the 4th quarter. I've seen him do it to Robert Porcher, I've seen him do it to Warren Sapp. If that ain't a nasty player, I don't know what is.
Bob Wilcox
Phoenix, Ari.

Making a list
Well since there doesn't seem to be a timeline for the nastiest players, I will give my nastiest players from the past.

1. Mike Singletary: His eyes were the key to his playing. Just looking into his eyes probably gave some QB's nightmares.
2. Dick Butkus: To keep this guy out of something like the nastiest players list is a insult to the way football was played in the old days.
3. Ed "to tall" Jones: An intimidating monster on the line. Even in today's game he would be a load to handle.
4 & 5. Jack Lambert and "Mean" Joe Green: These two players were the backbone to one of the best and most fierce defenses in the game. They did not just tackle you, they hurt you. With Green on the line and Lambert playing middle linebacker they were best to play the game in their time.
Denny Jacobsen
Spokane, Wa.

1. Warren Sapp: I totally agree that this guy can be as mean as he is talented.
2. Junior Seau: Junior's motor is running full speed an hour before kickoff and won't stop till he's at the next practice. And practice is like a game day for him. So when does this man take a break?
3. Brett Farve: Warren and Brett see each other twice a year. These guys love getting in each other's face! A QB with the guts to take on Sapp!
4. Rodney Harrison: Who packs more punch than this guy? I don't think his play is dirty. He has the rep for dirty & late hits. He just likes to hit!
5. Ray Lewis: I think Ray would hit his mom if she carried a football... nough said?
Rod Jones
Trempealeau, Wis

Junior deserves a spot
I would have to say that the nastiest player in the NFL is Junior Seau. I am an Oakland fan but an admirer of Seau. He has no other speed except full speed. He never hits someone soft or just pulls them to the ground. He is always on the ball. I would say that if you went for a nasty trio of LB's that I think no offensive player would want to see it would be Seau, Lewis and Romonowski. All these guys are nasty and mean and set out not to tackle but to "hurt" other players.
Jeff Leets
Los Angeles, Calif.

Young and nasty
I don't know about "Nasty", but wherever the ball is, so is Brian Urlacher. He can ring your bell
Philip Corbett
Chicago, Ill.

Lynch belongs
John Lynch. I have John as the Nastiest player. He gets my vote because of the tremendous "hits" he'll put on his opponents. The guy even hits you with a dislocated shoulder.
Robert O'Boyle
Venice, Fla.
