Steelers offensive coordinator interviews with Bengals

Associated Press

CINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati Bengals met with Steelers offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey on Saturday in Pittsburgh, apparently completing their first round of interviews for their head coaching job.

The Bengals fired Dick LeBeau on Monday after a 2-14 season, worst in franchise history.

Washington defensive coordinator Marvin Lewis flew to Cincinnati for an interview Tuesday, and former Jacksonville Jaguars coach Tom Coughlin visited on Friday.

The Bengals also are considering two of LeBeau's assistants for the job: defensive coordinator Mark Duffner and running backs coach Jim Anderson.

Mularkey has declined to talk publicly about the Bengals job, hoping not to become a distraction. The Steelers face the Cleveland Browns in the first round of the playoffs Sunday.

NFL rules now permit assistant coaches to be interviewed for head coaching jobs during the playoffs.
